Upcoming CEUs:

May 21, 2024 9:00 am - 12:15 pm

The Three D’s: Dementia, Delirium and Depression (3.0 Category I Social Work credits for social workers through the NationalAssociation of Social Workers, pending, and 3.0 Ethics credits approved for Certified Case Managers through CCMC)

Dementia, delirium and depression often coexist in elderly clients. Failure to properly cognitively assess and
recognize the differences and similarities between these issues can result in serious harm to clients. Delirium, often  a medical emergency, needs to be recognized and treated immediately. Medical professionals may attribute acute cognitive changes to chronic cognitive disorders. This lecture provides a clear and simple approach to  understanding the etiology, presentation and corrective actions necessary for managing this common co-morbidity.  Cick here for a flyer.

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe two clinical features of delirium
2. Articulate three preventative nonpharmacological interventions for delirium
3. Identify two major features of dementia, depression and delirium that are similar
4. Explain two major features of dementia, delirium and depression that distinguish one from the other.

Understanding, Uncovering and Undoing implicit bias: Working toward equity and inclusion in Human Service spaces. (3.0 Category I Social Work credits for social workers through the NationalAssociation of Social Workers, pending, and 3.0 Ethics credits pending for Certified Case Managers through CCMC)

Are you tired of CEU trainings that you find unhelpful? Then consider this practical, tools-and-skills based training opportunity.

As human services work toward racial and social justice in their spaces, it is not uncommon for organizations to have regular conversations about the ways that systemic racism, privilege, and oppression affect their work.  One important way to create the change that is needed is to understand the ways in which implicit biases (those that exist outside of our consciousness) affect us in our professional interactions. This practical training helps us do that.

The three-hour training begins with a brief review of bias, differentiating between explicit and implicit. It then offers participants the opportunity to learn the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to begin the process of identifying their own implicit bias patterns. The session ends with practical and applicable tools to help folks interrupt implicit bias in their everyday professional interactions.

Training Goals:

At the conclusion of the training, participants will:

   1. Differentiate between explicit and implicit biases.

   2. Explore the ways that implicit bias shows up for them in their lives.

   3. Practice identifying and discussing their own biases in professional settings.

   4. Identify specific tools they can use to help interrupt implicit bias in their professional interactions.
